It’s designed to provide company, mental stimulation, and emotional support to those who may feel lonely or isolated or who just want a little more human contact.

The Amigos are carefully selected, trained and screened people who excel and desire in providing compassionate, friendly, and engaging social interaction. They come from diverse backgrounds, but all are dedicated to fostering meaningful connections.

All Amigos have passed criminal record checks verified by You and Amigo, and have been tested for proficiency in English. All Amigos have been given training to ensure safety and privacy and enhance client experience.

  1. Sign your loved one up to an account or log in to your loved one’s account on the You and Amigo platform (powered by Jane.com).
  2. Make sure you enter the email address through which your loved one will receive notices and notifications of appointments booked and hosted online and through the jane.com app, so ensure it is an email address your loved one can access.
  3. As part of the registration process, you will be asked to enter your credit card information – you can enter your loved one’s credit card (if you have permission to access it) or you can enter your own. This credit card entered will be the one charged for any Amigo sessions booked for and attended by your loved one.
  4. Select the “Book a Session” option.
  5. You will be transferred to “Jane.com,” the online platform that powers You and Amigo. Choose an Amigo based on availability, interests, or other preferences.
  6. Schedule a time that works for you and/or your loved one.
  7. Register your credit card for payment
  8. Confirm the booking, and you/your loved one will receive an email link for the virtual session.
  9. Your loved one (and you, if you can access the email account you added to the account) will receive a reminder for any appointments booked.

Yes, during the booking process, you or your loved one can view profiles of available Amigos, including their interests, availabilities and experience. You can select an Amigo based on your loved one’s
preferences or try different Amigos for varied interactions.

Amigos can engage in a variety of activities, including:

  • Casual conversations
  • Reading aloud
  • Playing games (e.g., word games, puzzles)
  • Sharing stories or life experiences
  • Watching movies or TV shows together via screen sharing

Sessions are typically 45 minutes to 1 hour long, depending on your needs and the Amigo’s availability. The credit card on fil will be automatically charged once the 45-minute mark in the online appointment is reached

Your loved one will need access to a computer, tablet, or smartphone with internet access, a camera, and a microphone.

The Jane.com platform that powers You and Amigo is compatible with common browsers and apps (similar to Zoom or Google Meet), and we provide step-by-step instructions.

Jane.com also has an app that is free for download over which your loved one can access the online session. Downloading and accessing the app will provide the most seamless experience.

Possibly, depending on the nature of the disability Many of our Amigos have experience working with individuals with special needs. When booking a session, you can specify any special requirements, and we’ll try to match your loved one with a suitable Amigo.

Jane.com allows hundreds of thousands of medical professional access to online consultations, ensuring privacy and security.

All sessions are conducted in secure virtual environments, and Amigos undergo background checks and training.e Content

If you’d like, you can join the session as an observer to ensure everything goes smoothly. We want you to feel confident and comfortable with the experience.
You can cancel or reschedule a session up to 24 hours before the scheduled time. If you need to cancel closer to the session time, please contact our support team at info@youandamigo.ca for assistance.
Sessions are priced at $38 for a 45 minute to 1 hour session. The credit card associated with the account is automatically charged once the session reached the 45-minute mark through Jane.com’s ecommerce system.
Yes, you can also book a session as a gift for a loved one. Just select the “Gift a Session” option during booking and provide the recipient’s contact information.
Currently, we are limiting access to the You and Amigo service to residents on Canada and sessions are currently available in English only.
We strive to make every session enjoyable, but if your loved one doesn’t connect with the Amigo, you can try a different Amigo or request a refund for the session.
